Through a short teaser trailer, the developer of the farm simulation game has finally announced a date for the release of the multiplayer update for Stardew Valley, though only for PC.
It’s been a long time coming, but the multiplayer mode for Stardew Valley is finally arriving for players on PC. The news comes after about two years of development time, and will probably make many fans happy.
The multiplayer update, as has been said previously, will arrive first on Windows, Mac, and Linux through Steam and GOG, and that release is now confirmed to be happening on August 1. Console owners will have to wait a while longer, with the developer simply saying that the update is “coming soon”. The Nintendo Switch will be the first of the consoles to receive it, however.
As previously reported, the multiplayer mode won’t support split-screen or PvP modes, and it will be mostly limited to online play, though it will support LAN groups on the PC version if the current beta is any indication. It’s currently unknown if the console versions will have a similar feature. Players will be able to take part in all of the game’s activities such as farming, cave exploration, festivals, and more together. Player characters will also be able to marry each other.
The development of a multiplayer mode for the game hasn’t been easy, as it was originally designed to be a single-player game, which explains why it has been so long since the original announcement. Those who have been eagerly anticipating it have now less than two weeks to wait.
