Xiaomi has launched two brand new smartwatches called the Amazfit Stratos and the Amazfit Bip. Both devices are listed in India, but you can only purchase one device for the time being. Both of these wearables come from Xiaomi’s sub-brand Huami, a company that specializes in making fitness-related products.
The Amazfit Stratos is the more premium fitness smartwatch as opposed to the Amazfit Bip and comes at a price of Rs. 15999. The device is available exclusively from Flipkart and there are some offers that will be accompanied with this purchase as well. You will get EMIs from Rs. 532 per month and an extra 5% off with the Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card. Thanks to higher pricing when compared against the Amazfit Bip, you will get a better design as well as better specifications, with all details published below.
The cheaper Amazfit Bip features a price of Rs. 5499 and this too will be available exclusively at Flipkart. This wearable has been listed on the online retailer as ‘coming soon’ so you will not be able to purchase it just yet. However, you should still know about the offers that come with this purchase if you ever think about getting one in the future. You get EMIs from Rs. 183 per month as well as an extra 5% off with the Axis Bank Buzz Credit Card.
The Amazfit Stratos is GPS enabled to provide the wearer with personalized metrics when they are engaged in their fitness trial run. The device can provide such users with over twelve different types of fitness activities. The Amazfit Stratos features a 1.34-inch always-on LCD display with a resolution of 320 × 300. It also sports a trans-reflective layer as well as Corning Gorilla Glass to protect it from the top.
Other technical specifications of the watch include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of internal storage of which 2GB can be used for storing music. It also comes with continuous heart rate tracking and can resist water up to a depth of nearly 50 meters. Furthermore, the Amazfit Stratos supports tracking via GPS and GLONASS.
There are other software features and sensors present in the Amazfit Stratos and it includes Firstbeat Technologies, which powers the heart rate analytics engine used by devices like the Garmin Forerunner. This will let the smartwatch track users’ VO2 max levels, which can be used to analyze how well your body is converting food into energy.
The Amazfit Bip boasts one of the best battery life metrics for a wearable. According to Huami, the watch can go up to 30 days with normal usage and up to 45 days with minimal notifications on a single charge. We are talking about a month of continuous usage, which is extremely impressive.
About the design, the Amazfit Bip looks like a cross that took place between the Apple Watch and Pebble Time. The device also sports a rectangular shape with rounded corners and has a side-button so that users can interact with it any time they want.
Sadly, you will not be able to run third-party applications and instead, make use of the features that you are already getting with the Amazfit Bip, which might be a deal-breaker for some, but others would love to have it thanks to its affordable price. It is possible that Huawei offloads more features in the form of software updates, but till then, you’re stuck with what came with the fitness tracker.
