A Detroit dad is accused of taking his two children on a 3 a.m. go-kart ride while intoxicated, resulting in the death of his 4-year-old daughter.
Also injured but expected to recover is Ollante Arvell Young’s 5-year old daughter.
The Wayne County Prosecutors Office on Thursday, Aug. 30, charged Young, 29, with one count of operating while intoxicated causing death, punishable by up to 15 years in prison; two counts of second-degree child abuse; and two counts of driving while intoxicated with occupants under 16.
Prosecutors haven’t disclosed whether Young is believed to have been drunk or on drugs at the time of the accident.
Police say Young crashed the single-seat go-kart with no seat belts or headlights into a parked car on St. Mary’s Street on Detroit’s west side.
WDIV-TV, Channel 4 News identified the victim as Autumn Young.
