The Google Pixel 3 XL will have dual front camera for selfies and a secure Face Unlock feature. Here’s everything we know so far about the smartphone.
Google appears to be readying for the launch of Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. The Google Pixel lineup has been one of the most eagerly awaited smartphones, and reports about them have surfaced quite regularly. The latest one confirms a few more details about the flagship Google smartphone that always gets the first taste of the latest Android operating system.
A number of images uploaded by a Russian on Twitter offer detailed view of the as yet unannounced Google Pixel 3 XL. The device in the images sports a tall frame, lending credibility to the upcoming flagship Google smartphone. Moreover, the Russian tech blogger Канал Лучкова’s Twitter account clearly mentions the mystery device is the Google Pixel 3 XL. If that’s not enough, one of the image also shows the “About Device” page under Settings. It clearly indicates this is the third generation of Pixel smartphone.
One of the most information that can be gleamed off the images is the fact that Google has opted for a rather odd camera setup on the Pixel 3 XL. The smartphone possess a single rear camera. Majority of flagship smartphones today, have at least two rear cameras. The secondary camera sensor may not be large, but it does offer excellent depth of field effect, commonly known as bokeh. Interestingly, the Google Pixel 3 XL having a single rear camera is not the strange aspect.
While the Pixel 3 XL packs only a single rear camera, it sports a dual camera on the front. Previous reports indicated the presence of three cameras. However, the latest images refute the claim. Instead, the smartphone has two camera sensors. The unit should offer excellent selfies, apart from highly secure implementation of Face Unlock.
The Google Pixel 3 XL shown in the images bears a white backside and a black front. Perhaps this could be the only color combination for the device. Let’s take a look at the specifications and features that have appeared so far about the Google Pixel 3 XL.
A video that leaked earlier this month offered several technical details about the Google Pixel 3 XL. The flagship-class third generation of Google Pixel smartphones sports a large 6.7-inch notched Quad HD+ display with 1440×2960 resolution. This is the same resolution as the current generation of flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphones. Hence, the Google Pixel 3 XL could have a Super AMOLED panel.
The upcoming smartphone worthy of the Google Pixel branding should have the prevalent top-end processor along with a powerful GPU. Rumors indicate the smartphone may pack Snapdragon 845 SoC. Strangely, Google appears to be sticking with 4GB of RAM, despite several flagship smartphones packing 6GB or 8GB of RAM. Still, given Google’ optimization, we are fairly confident that the Pixel 3 XL will be more than capable of delivering an ultra-smooth experience to users even with 4GB of RAM. Even odder, the smartphone may have just 64GB or 128GB of internal storage which may not be expandable.
Google Pixel 3 XL Unboxing Images, Video Leaked Online Ahead of Launch
As mentioned earlier, the Google Pixel 3 XL will have a single rear camera with 12.2MP resolution and f/1.8 aperture. It should have Optical Image Stability or OIS. The resolution of the dual front cameras is not confirmed yet. But previous reports indicated they could be 8MP units. The camera will certainly be heavily optimized using Artificial Intelligence that Google has mastered.
Google Pixel 3 XL could ship with IP67 certification making the smartphone water-resistant and dust proof. A sufficiently large 3,430mAH battery will power the device. The device may support wireless charging and fast charging capabilities. For connectivity, the Google Pixel 3 XL will have 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. There will be a fingerprint reader at the back.
Reports indicate the Google Pixel 3 XL may launch on October 4,2018, along with its slightly smaller cousin, the Google Pixel 3. They will certainly launch with Android 9 Pie OS, and may have ditched the traditional 3-button navigation for the gesture-based, single, virtual button navigation.
