HMD Global set to launch most awaited phone on Aug 21 as Flipkart-exclusive, Nokia 6.1 Plus expected

HMD Global is all set to launch its launch its next phone in India on August 21. Although the company is yet to confirm the device, chances are Nokia 6.1 Plus is coming. Nokia has been teasing the upcoming smartphone by calling it the “most awaited phone” for a long time now. With just a day to go for the launch, HMD Global has announced that the upcoming Nokia phone — possibly the Nokia 6.1 Plus — will be Flipkart-exclusive. The landing page of the Nokia phone on Flipkart shows just the silhouette of the phone. It — too — doesn’t reveal the name of the upcoming Nokia phone.
The support page of the Nokia 6.1 Plus has been live on the Nokia India website for quite sometime now. Not only that, the global variant of the Nokia 6.1 Plus was also spotted on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certifications suggesting it’s ready for its global launch. HMD Global has been teasing the phone for sometime now. The teaser shows a silhouette of what could be the Nokia 6.1 Plus together with the hashtag #BringItOn.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus — which was previously launched in Hong Kong — is the first phone from HMD Global to come with a notched display. It also boasts off an all-glass design. As far as the specs are concerned, the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with a 5.8-inch FHD+ display with 1080x2280p resolution and aspect ratio of 19:9. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.
The Nokia 6.1 Plus is an Android One device. Meaning, the phone runs stock Android Oreo out-of-the-box with a promise for timely security updates and Android 9 Pie and Android Q in the future. The smartphone comes with dual camera setup consisting of a primary 16-megapixel sensor and a secondary sensor of 5-megapixel. On the front the Nokia 6.1 Plus sports a 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture. The Nokia 6.1 Plus also comes with some AI support which helps improve image quality and bokeh effect. The smartphone is backed by a 3,060mAh battery with support for fast charging via USB Type-C.
As of now, there are no pricing details of the Nokia 6.1 Plus. But, chances are, it is going to be a mid-range phone. We can expect the Nokia 6.1 Plus to be priced around Rs 20,000 in India. With the Nokia 6.1 Plus, HMD Global is expected to take on the newly launched Xiaomi Mi A2 Android One phone.
