The premier is scheduled for Sept. 22, but a venue has yet to be finalized.
The locally-produced movie chronicling the devastation of Hurricane Harvey will premiere next month, producer Nkem DenChukwu said.
“Harvey,” which first gained notoriety in January after an exaggerated movie poster began circulating online, is scheduled for a Sept. 22 debut. DenChukwu, of Street Corner Films, said the venue has yet to be finalized, but ticket prices are expected to cost around $20.

“We’re trying to get a place that will give us the option for a grand red-carpet event,” she said, adding that all the actors will be in attendance.
Director Michael Sterling wrote the original script for the two-hour film, and DenChukwu worked as the producer, casting director and story editor.
The movie follows four characters navigating the storm’s devastation and includes moments inspired by real events. She also has the cooperation of brothers Ric and Samuel Saldivar, who lost their parents and four great-grandchildren when their white van was swept away by floodwaters.
The brothers will play themselves in the movie, she said.
“I wanted a way to help them immortalize the memories of their loved ones,” she said.

The brothers inject a dose of reality among the fictional lead characters. Most of the extras in the movie were also evacuees during the storm, she said.
The movie will showcase how the main characters come together. Overall, the film was intended to draw attention to the unity in the city during the storm, she said.
“During Harvey, we all witnessed kindness,” she said. “Race wasn’t an issue. Neighbors became friends, and strangers became friends.”
