President Trump has a not-so-endearing nickname for Betsy DeVos, according to Omarosa Manigault Newman, calling his Education secretary “Ditzy DeVos.”
The “Ditzy” title, former White House aide Manigault Newman writes in her just-released book, “Unhinged,” would be used by Trump “behind her back.”
Manigault Newman rips DeVos in the explosive tell-all, writing, “There is no way she should be secretary of education” and that “the depth and breadth of her ignorance is a travesty for the children.”
“Once I returned and told DJT about what had happened, he shook his head in disgust,” Manigault Newman writes. “[Trump] said, ‘She is Ditzy DeVos, what do you expect? In a very short period of time, I will get rid of her. Believe me, believe me.’”
Manigault Newman herself points out though, more than a year later, DeVos is “still serving.”
A Department of Education spokesman didn’t immediately return ITK’s request for comment.
Trump — who’s known for crafting nicknames for his adversaries, including calling Hillary Clinton “Crooked Hillary” and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “Rocket Man” — also had a moniker for Jeff Sessions, Manigault Newman says.
The commander in chief called Sessions “Benjamin Button” when the attorney general wasn’t around, Newman writes. The 1922 F. Scott Fitzgerald story, “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” centers around a baby who’s born looking and acting like an elderly man before aging in reverse back to infancy.
A Department of Justice spokesman declined to comment.
“Unhinged” has been blasted by critics who question Manigault Newman’s credibility, and the White House has slammed the book, saying it’s “riddled with lies and false accusations.”
In the wake of the book’s Tuesday publication, Trump has developed yet another nickname, dubbing Manigault Newman “Wacky Omarosa” in multiple tweets.
Trump escalated his attacks on Tuesday morning, calling the former “Apprentice” contestant a “lowlife” and a “dog.”
