Pelosi: Naming Senate office building after McCain would be a 'great tribute'

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday she supports naming the Russell Senate Office Building after the late Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.).
“I think it would be a great tribute, because then for decades to come, everyone who came to Washington would know the very special place that John McCain held – has held and will continue to hold in our country,” she said by phone on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”
McCain died of brain cancer at the age of 81 on Saturday, which Stephanopoulos noted was nine years to the day his friend, the late Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass.), died.
Pelosi said it’s a remarkable coincidence.
“But maybe the intensity of their lives just determined that would be the case,” she said.
“In any event, I know that Ted Kennedy and so many of our colleagues on both sides of the aisle, whether they were in complete agreement with John McCain were all in agreement that he was formidable, had enormous integrity and was acting on behalf of our country and what he truly believed.”
