Artifact, the upcoming Dota 2 themed card game by Valve, finally has a release date, with the company announcing today that the game will launch for PC in November and for mobile later this year.
After what seemed like forever, another Valve game will soon be seeing the light of day. The company announced today that its upcoming trading card game Artifact will be available on November 28,2018, for PC.
Initially announced in 2017 during The International tournament, the card game is themed around Valve’s massively popular MOBA Dota 2, featuring its heroes as well as the lanes and towers aspects from the title. The creator behind Magic: The Gathering, Richard Garfield, is involved in the development as well.
As previously confirmed, Artifact will not be free-to-play, and Valve revealed today that the entrance price will be $20. This will give players over 280 cards to build their decks from the get go, and they may also use the Steam Community Marketplace to purchase and sell their card inventory.
Adding to this, the Steam store page says that “Artifact will also be supported as a service through expansions, competitive events, and new features.”
The first public showing of the game will take place at PAX West, which kicks off on August 31 in Seattle, where Valve will be holding a public single elimination tournament with merchandise and free copies of the game being given to everyone who participates.
Following the PC launch later this year, Artifact is also headed to Android and iOS devices in 2019.
