Vivo is sending out media invites for a launch event in India on September 6 where we expect the company will announce the Vivo V11 with a droplet notch.
Vivo is sending out media invites for a launch event in India on September 6. The invite doesn’t explicitly mention the smartphone that will be announced, but it does come with the tagline “Experience the 11,” which suggests the rumoured Vivo V11 is coming to India. The V11 has been in the news lately with specs and live images leaking out earlier this week. Based on those leaks, it looks like the V11 will sport a design language similar to the Oppo R17 and F9 phones.
Leaked images of the V11 show an edge-to-edge display on the front with a Waterdrop-like screen of the Oppo F9. The F9 was recently announced in Vietnam and a version of it, the F9 Pro, will be coming to India on August 21. Oppo is giving its display a unique name because of the notch which is small and shaped like water droplet. The notch is unlike what most Android phones have been bringing lately. It’s as smaller or smaller than the notch on the Essential Phone and also looks less intrusive.
The Vivo V11 is most likely the successor to the V9 that was launched earlier this year. Based on all the reports so far, the V11 will bring a 6.41-inch FHD+ AMOLED display and will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. The device could be offered with 128GB of internal storage with support for expandability.
The invite is dominated by a generic fingerprint impression, which suggests and backs past reports that the Vivo V11 will bring an in-display fingerprint sensor. As for the cameras, rumours say the device will have a dual camera setup on the back similar to the Nex S, which means we could be looking at a 12MP + 5MP configuration. Up front, the phone is tipped to come with a 25MP camera. Additionally, the Vivo V11 is said to run Android 8.1 Oreo based Funtouch OS and may be backed by a 3,400mAh battery.
It looks as though the new, smaller droplet notch is catching on. While it does look a lot more subtle and discreet from the images so far, we’ll have to wait and see how it translates in real-world usage. We should know more about Vivo plans for September 6 in the days to come.
