The fabric is a runway staple, but never has it felt more varied and relevant. Telfar’s unisex collection was not inspired by but “dedicated to” America, offering a range of indigo to faded jeans, styled with everything from reworked T-shirts printed with stars and stripes to relaxed button-downs — a modern twist on patriotic dressing.
Tie-dye
Often associated with hippies and music festivals, tie-dye was revamped with a streetwear stamp of approval from some of the week’s buzziest brands. Eckhaus Latta went for matchy-matchy (right), while John Elliott’s dipped anoraks (left) were styled with clunky-chic bucket hats and sneakers.
Bike shorts
What started as a microtrend endorsed by athleisure addicts — including Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid, who pair them with everything from blazers to bomber jackets — crept onto the runway in a major way. Maryam Nassir Zadeh reimagined the sporty staple in sherbet hues (right), while Piotrek Panszczyk and Beckett Fogg of Area — a brand that’s synonymous with on-trend, party-ready wares — styled a metallic pair with a matching frock (left).
Fringe
It was everywhere — swishing elegantly off evening gowns and the backs of high heels at Oscar de la Renta, and embellished with beads at Prabal Gurung. And whatever Raf Simons puts on the Calvin Klein runway resonates with his loyal fashion-forward fan base — Kaia Gerber wore the trend like a fabulous fanny pack, on a belt slung nonchalantly around her waist.
Yellow
Against the backdrop of a particularly rainy week in New York, the skies seemingly parted on the runways to unveil the prettiest sun-ray-inspired threads, which ranged from flowing and asymmetrical at Pyer Moss (right) to full-on froth at Marc Jacobs (left), where the over-the-top vibe was a far cry from mellow.
