Apple has released iOS 12 in hot anticipation to bring the iPhone and iPad to the latest version. The new version focuses on digital wellness to help bring a focus to not only your health but also helping to highlight how you use your device.
In addition to the digital wellbeing features in iOS 12 to reduce how much time you spend on your device, iOS 12 also sees the ability to chat with multiple people via FaceTime (although this won’t be available straightaway). There’s also new Animoji, and local multiplayer AR experiences, together with a new Do Not Disturb feature.

Siri also sees improvements in the ability to hook into shortcuts that you can create to gain quick access to actions. It can also count calories for you and present more information about a wider range of subjects and topics.
The iOS 12 update isn’t just about new features; Apple also promises that the update will make older iPhones run better. In the past, Apple has been criticised for making iPhones slower with new updates. Apple claims that apps may launch up to twice as fast and the keyboard takes up to half the amount of time to open with the new iOS 12 software, which is great for those not looking to update.
The update was made live a few days ago so the servers should not be as busy as release day as everyone hits the update button at the same time. If you want to grab iOS 12 and your iPhone or iPad hasn’t already prompted you to update then you can manually trigger an update to the latest software in the Settings app. Of course, if you’re expecting a delivery of an iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, or iPhone XR tomorrow, then it will come with iOS 12 preloaded.
