OnePlus is all set to unveil its next flagship Android smartphone next month. Even though the company has started teasing the upcoming smartphone officially, it is yet to confirm the global launch date. Ahead of the launch, we are bringing you exclusive renders of the OnePlus 6T and a 360-degree video that confirms all the key design highlights of the smartphone. The renders and the 360-degree video come from trusted leakster @OnLeaks, who has a fantastic track record when it comes to leaks.
The OnePlus 6T leaked renders confirm the presence of a waterdrop notch at the top of the display, similar to the OPPO R17 and F9 series smartphones. Thanks to the waterdrop notch design, we expect the OnePlus 6T to have a slightly higher screen-to-body ratio than the OnePlus 6. On the back of the handset, we see a vertically-stacked dual-camera setup with a dual-LED flash module placed right below it. As confirmed by a recent CNET report, the OnePlus 6T does not feature a fingerprint sensor at the rear. Instead, the upcoming flagship will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor. Unfortunately, however, the OnePlus 6T will not have a 3.5mm headphone jack. The 3.5mm headphone jack was recently voted by OnePlus 6 fans as their favorite feature of the smartphone, so this will certainly disappoint a large number of OnePlus fans. The positioning of the power, alert slider, and volume keys is largely unchanged compared to the OnePlus 6.
In terms of physical size, the OnePlus 6T measures 157.5 x 75.7 x 8.2mm. At its thickest point, i.e. the camera bump, the smartphone will be 8.6mm thick. These dimensions are roughly similar to those of the OPPO R17 Pro, confirming that the upcoming smartphone will have a display measuring around 6.4-inches diagonally. For reference, the current OnePlus 6 measures 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.8mm. The thicker profile of the handset also hints at a slightly higher capacity battery under the hood.
To get an even better look at the upcoming OnePlus 6T’s design, watch the 360-degree video below.
Going by previous leaks, the upcoming OnePlus flagship smartphone will be equipped with a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display featuring 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to the waterdrop notch at the top, OnePlus 6T is expected to boast a higher screen-to-body ratio when compared to the OnePlus 6. Protecting the display will be a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
In terms of performance, the OnePlus 6T will be more or less identical to the OnePlus 6. It will be powered by a 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor clocked at 2.8 GHz with an Adreno 630 GPU. In terms of memory, we expect OnePlus to offer the 6T in three variants – 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 8GB RAM + 128GB storage, and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The smartphone is expected to feature a similar 16MP + 20MP dual-camera setup at the rear, while the front camera is likely to see an upgrade compared to the OnePlus 6. Connectivity features will include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, NFC, Dual 4G VoLTE, and a USB Type-C port. Rumors also suggest the OnePlus 6T will be an improvement over the OnePlus 6 in terms of battery life, thanks to a slightly larger battery. The exact capacity, however, has not been confirmed just yet. In terms of software, the OnePlus 6T is likely to ship with Android 9.0 Pie-based OxygenOS out of the box.
