Developer Jam City updates the loading screen for Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery to include a new werewolf character, leaving fans to wonder the creature’s true identity.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery‘s app icon has been changed, as has the loading screen people see when they start up the game. The previous loading screen was pre-release art for the game, but now players are treated to an image of a werewolf with various characters from Hogwarts Mystery pointing their wand at it. This has led Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans to wonder exactly who the werewolf is.
We can safely rule out the characters that are in the image. That means we know that Charlie Weasley, Penny Haywood, Madam Rakepick, and Barnaby Lee are not the werewolf. Dumbledore and Severus Snape are in the image as well, and while we already knew they aren’t werewolves due to the novels, it’s still worth pointing out.
This leaves a lot of possibilities open as to the werewolf’s identity. There have been a number of theories making the rounds about the werewolf’s identity, with some fans convinced that the werewolf is Ben Copper or Rowan Khanna. Others believe that the werewolf is the player character, considering how it is positioned at the center of the screen behind the logo, as the player character was in the previous loading screen.
Alternatively, the werewolf could be a character we haven’t even met or seen yet. It’s possible that the werewolf is none other than Jacob, the player character’s mysterious missing brother. It’s also possible that the werewolf has something to do with the Cursed Vaults in Year 5, but all of this is just speculation at this time.
At the time of this writing, it’s unclear when Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery fans will know who the werewolf is. Much of Year 5 has yet to be added to the game, with players still unable to even explore Year 5’s new area, Diagon Alley. It’s likely that the werewolf is a major part of the plot moving forward, but we haven’t had any hints of its existence until now, so it’s hard to say exactly when it will be introduced in the plot.
Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
