This isn’t surprising to me at all, and I don’t think it’s surprising to anybody else who watched the Tide dismantle Louisville on Saturday night. Tua just looked like he was from a different world. Some of the passes he was making were just hard to believe. The man was born to play quarterback, and that’s clear every time he takes a snap. You almost have to feel bad for Jalen Hurts. He played two solid years, but his time running the show appears to be over. He just can’t compete with the skill set of Tagovailoa. That’s the harsh reality of college football. One day you’re a superstar and the next you’re relegated to the bench.
I talked all offseason about my expectations of Tua, and he didn’t disappoint a bit in his first outing. I can’t wait to see what he does in his second start. I’m sure it’s going to be impressive.
