President Trump spoke via phone with Arizona Governor Doug Ducey this week following the death of Senator John McCain.
According to a Friday Politico report, four sources with knowledge of their conversation described the call as a “wide-ranging” one that included topics such as health care, President Trump’s proposed border wall, and the Senate vacancy created by the death of McCain.
Trump also reportedly congratulated Ducey, whom he endorsed several days before Tuesday’s election, for his recent primary victory.
Governor Doug Ducey of Arizona is doing a great job. It would be really nice to show your support tomorrow by voting for him in Tuesdays Primary. Doug is strong on Crime, the Border, and our Second Amendment. Loves our Military & our Vets. He has my full and complete Endorsement.

Ducey, tasked with appointing the late Senator McCain’s replacement, has thus far has not given any hints as to whom he is considering. (RELATED: Will Cindy McCain Be Appointed To Fill Her Husband’s Vacant Senate Seat)
“We have stated repeatedly that we would not discuss an appointment to the seat vacated by Sen. McCain’s passing until his life is honored and he is laid to rest. That continues to be the case and we will have nothing further to add,” Ducey spokesman Daniel Ruiz told Politico.
