Rockstar Games has shown off a few pictures of some of the 200 different Red Dead Redemption 2 animals that we’ll be seeing in the game.
The official Rockstar Games Twitter today showed us a series of pictures on what sort of Red Dead Redemption 2 animals we can expect to see over the course of the game. There are over 200 different species of animals on land, in the sky, and in the rivers, leaving lots of hunting opportunity.
Like with many open world exploration games that have a wide open world, Red Dead Redemption possesses a hunting and crafting system, allowing you to kill an animal, skin it, and use it for money or upgrades. A particularly both valuable and dangerous target was the cougar, which could pop out of anywhere and kill you in just a few hits.
While we don’t know if anything like that will be among the Red Dead Redemption 2 animals, there’s no telling just yet. Considering that it takes place in a wide variety of new places with new terrain, Arthur Morgan and the Van Der Linde gang will likely run into a wide variety of flora and fauna.
The Twitter post about Red Dead Redemption 2 animals contains pictures of a coyote, a whitetail deer, a vulture, bald eagle, grizzly bear, great sturgeon fish, gila monsters, and wild horses, but even all of those are only a fraction of what we’re going to be seeing as we travel across the frontier.
This marks the latest amount of worldbuilding that Rockstar has given us in the past few weeks. Previously they’d shown off the various towns and cities that we would be visiting, which stretched across the United States and varied from mining towns to thriving cities. And before that they’d shown us the various characters we’d be interacting with in the story.
Either way, the Frontier that you’ll be encountering all of these animals in will be a very beautiful but at the same time very dangerous place that you’ll have to be wary of as you play. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be coming out on October 26 on the Xbox One and Playstation 4.
