CNN trotted out their hurricane team in preparation for hurricane Florence in South Carolina.
Anchors Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon took their shoes off and wandered around on the beaches of South Carolina describing the scene at hand on Thursday. Although the storm will certainly get much worse, many of the beachgoers seemed calm and in good spirits.
Don Lemon described the conditions of his relatively calm location as “picking up” and said that the beach he was filming on was “technically closed” but police may start to “arrest” people on said beach soon.
“More people are coming out here on the beach,” Lemon said, pointing to numerous families that could be seen sitting and picnicking on the beach. “At some point, they say they’ll make people leave the beach, and if you don’t want to go, they’ll have to arrest you.”
At this exact moment, a little girl in a pink shirt began doing gymnastics and backflips in the background of the shot. The brave girl did multiple flips while the CNN chyron read “STORM OF THE CENTURY.”
At his location, CNN’s Chris Cuomo was criticized for wearing a hat promoting his own show in the hurricane while families wandered the beaches and surfers rode waves behind him.
