Here’s your complete guide to the games that support online multiplayer through the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service.
There has been much discussion in recent weeks over the value provided by Nintendo Switch Online. Along with cloud saves, and access to an initial suite of 20 NES classics, the main reason many Switch owners will subscribe is to continue playing online multiplayer games.
There are some caveats, however, as subscription is not required for all titles. Free-to-play games – the likes of Fortnite and Paladins, for example – support free online multiplayer. But for everything else, you’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
You could be forgiven for thinking that this only leaves a small clutch of first-party Nintendo games to play – such as Splatoon 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – but the list actually runs much longer.
So here’s the full list of games supported by Nintendo Switch Online. It’s worth noting that not every title supports simultaneous online gameplay. Some have leaderboards, and some support asynchronous play, so remember to check the Nintendo eShop product description before downloading.
Nintendo Switch Online is available now with a free one week trial for new subscribers. Monthly, quarterly, and annual memberships are available, along with a family plan that supports up to eight Nintendo accounts.
