16 Flint-area teams projected to make Michigan high school football playoffs

15 area teams are holding down playoff sports after eight weeks and a 16th is projected to make it as well.
FLINT, MI — With the Michigan high school football postseason a little more than one week away, 15 teams are currently holding down playoff spots and a 16th is projected to qualify as well.
Teams with at least six wins are automatically in the playoffs and those with five wins are eligible but aren’t guaranteed of taking part in the postseason.
The top 32 teams advance to the postseason in each of the eight 11-man divisions while the top 16 advance in the two 8-man divisions.
In Division 1, Lapeer (8-0) is fourth in playoff points after eight weeks, Davison (7-1) is 13th and Grand Blanc (5-3) is 26th.
In Division 1, Flushing (6-2) is 11th, Swartz Creek (6-2) is 14th and Fenton is 15th.
In Division 3, Brandon (7-1) is sixth.
In Division 4, Powers Catholic (5-3) is 14th, North Branch (6-2) is 15th and Goodrich (5-3) is 21st.
No Flint-area teams are holding down playoff sports in Division 5.
In Division 6, Hamady (8-0) is fifth, Montrose (6-2) is 14th and Byron (4-4) is 30th.
In Division 7, New Lothrop (8-0) is second.
In Division 8, Beecher (6-2) is 14th.
In 8-man Division 1, Genesee (5-3) is 13th.
In addition to the aforementioned 15 teams, Carman-Ainsworth (4-4) is projected to qualify in Division 2, according to the website Snooze2you.com. The Cavs play Powers this week.
The playoff field and first-round pairings will be announced Sunday night.
First-round games begin Oct. 26.
