A recently deleted blog post from Activision reveals a new loot progression system in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 that is reminiscent of the one in Fortnite.
In a recent Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 blog post, Treyarch and Activision indicated that they have plans to add a battle pass loot system to Blackout that is reminiscent of Fortnite’s Battle Pass. The post has since been deleted, and players are left wondering whether the feature will be available in the game after all.
The blog post highlighted several features of the Battle Pass in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, including “Supply Stream,” which is a new progression system that will allow players to unlock loot and gear as the player progresses through different tiers. Apparently, CharlieIntel and a few players reportedly received an email from Activision itself that detailed the various features of Supply Stream, prior to the studio deleting the blog post.
It has also been revealed that players who own the Black Ops Pass will be able to jump 10 tiers for every new season that is released. “The brand-new Supply Stream system now grants you new gear as you progress through tiers,” Activision stated in the blog (via CharlieIntel). “While other players are required to reach each tier organically, Black Ops Pass members can skip 10 tiers per session. What’s that mean? In short, you’ll get the chance to own the newest Uniforms, Weapon Variants and Emotes before everybody else.”
Although the blog post came from Activision itself, everything that was stated regarding Supply Stream may still change or removed entirely, given that the publisher deleted the post in the first place. As of the moment, both Activision and Treyarch have not provided an official statement regarding the contents of the blog post.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was recently released a couple of days ago, and players were greeted with a massive day one update. Of course, players who purchased the digital copy of the game and decided to pre-load the title won’t be affected. However, a slight delay is expected for everyone who bought the physical edition of the game and wanted to play straight away, as multiplayer access is restricted until the 50 GB update has been downloaded and installed.
After only a day since the game’s release, players quickly discovered how some emotes allowed them to peek around corners, giving them an unfair advantage over other players. Fortunately, Treyarch swiftly responded and promised to update the game and fix the glitch, saying that Emotes (Gestures) were added for players to have fun, but were never intended to be used for cheating.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is now available for the PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
