Several Detroit-themed films will receive works-in-progress screenings as part of a free event on Tuesday.
The Detroit Narrative Agency Film Screening and Cohort Celebration will include five films and post-movie Q&As with their directors. DNA, a sponsored project of Allied Media Projects, seeks to shift narratives within Detroit while advancing social justice. The filmmakers are all part of a DNA cohort that launched in early 2016.

„This cohort of black and brown filmmakers were all able to direct their first films! It’s important for people to know that this cohort worked diligently to ensure that they included their different communities in the full process, from start to finish,“ said Paige Watkins, DNA’s associate director, in a statement. „They have prioritized the ways that their films make it back to those communities for viewing, organizing and amplifying issues.“
The event happens at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Bel Air Luxury Cinema in Detroit. Admission is free. Registration requested at Eventbrite. (Search „closing cohort“)
