Destiny 2’s Halloween themed Festival of the Lost has returned with new loot, triumphs, spooky decorations, and a fantastic new mode.
Festival of the Los t was suspiciously missing in Destiny 2’s first year, but now the annual Halloween themed event has returned. This year’s festival brings with it new loot, triumphs, bounties, events, and a spooky new questline. We are here to dig deep and showcase everything new in Destiny 2 Festival of the Lost.
Right off the bat, eight new Triumphs are added under Events in the Triumphs section of your menu. By completing seven of these, you will then achieve the final Triumph: Lost in the Forest. Doing so will reward you the Dark Prince mask. Here are the Festival of the Lost Triumphs:
Amanda Holliday is putting on the festival this time around and she has gone all out. The Tower has gotten a spooky makeover. Paper engrams and festival banners dangle from above, purple candles and “In Memory Of” holograms surround a tree at the center, and sound effects such as shrieks, howling, cackling laughter and a haunting new score resonate through the atmosphere.
Tess has a plethora of event-only items you can purchase including some armor, a ghost shell, an exotic ship, a sparrow, an emote dance, a cute ghost projection, a box of shaders, and a chicken mask. You can check out each individual item in the gallery below.
Ephemeral Engrams are also introduced. Filling your XP level will earn you these engrams as well as the normal Steadfast Engram for the duration of the festival. Yes, this means you get double the Bright Engrams. If you so choose, you can also purchase the Ephemeral Engrams from Tess. Just buy some silver with real world money and they are all yours.
After you check out all the new cosmetics at the Tower, you’ll want to talk to Amanda Holliday. She will give you a Master Rahool mask and send you to Io for the first part of the Festival of the Lost questline. It’s pretty short and works as an introduction to the Haunted Forest, Festival of the Lost’s new PvE mode.
Completing all of the quest steps will finish the milestone as well as mark the We Came, We Saw, We Survived Triumph off your list. It will also reward you with the exotic Fighting Lion grenade launcher and the Fighting Lion catalyst as well as the ability to complete Festival of the Lost bounties. Oh, and it unlocks the exclusive event weapon: the Horror Story legendary auto rifle. Let’s face it, this is what we all want.
Festival of the Lost comes with the promise of obtaining the Horror Story auto rifle. This event exclusive weapon has a 600 attack, a level 10 masterwork, and the following traits:
It doesn’t come cheap though. The only way to get Horror Story is by purchasing it from Amanda Holliday for 120 Fragmented Souls, the festival exclusive currency.
No seasonal event would be complete in Destiny 2 without a new mode. The Haunted Forest is a horde-esque challenge mode that tasks a fireteam of 1-3 players with entering an awesomely re-skinned version of the Infinite Forest and defeating levels of enemies leading to powerful creatures called Nightmares. You have 15 minutes to complete as many levels as possible. If you manage to make it through all 7 branches, you will be handsomely rewarded.
Beginning Tuesday, October 30th, Guardians will get access to a new Festival of the Lost questline. Master Ives has been killed and it is up to you to solve his murder and bring the killer to justice. Finishing the quest will reward players with a powerful engram that will change each week.
Destiny 2’s Festival of the Lost returns in great fashion and should keep players more than occupied with fresh content and a reason to come back daily in pursuit of the Horror Story rifle and other limited items. Festival of the Lost begins today and runs until November 6.
