Man charged in crash that killed newlyweds had marijuana in system, police say

ALLEGAN, MI — A 21-year-old man has been arraigned for a July crash on M-40 that killed a couple married just a few weeks.
Jacob Scot Damron was arraigned Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Allegan County District Court on multiple felonies, including operating while intoxicated causing death and reckless driving causing death .
The charges relate to tests that showed marijuana in his system, as well as an anti-depressant drug called flouxetine.
Flouxetine also goes by the trade name of Prozac and is available by prescription.
Allegan County sheriff’s investigators said Damron was driving west on 1289th Avenue on July 17and failed to yield at a stop sign at M-40.
His vehicle crashed into a vehicle carrying Logan and Hannah Allbaugh. The Allbaugh vehicle spun out and was struck by an oncoming vehicle, police said.
Logan and Hannah Allbaugh were married June 23.
Public records show that Damron is from Wayland.

Secretary of State records show that Damron’s driver’s license was suspended in November 2016 after he was convicted of possession of marijuana in Jackson District Court.
He had two speeding tickets in 2017, both in Allegan. One was for going 65 mph in a 55 mph zone. The other was for going 35 mph in a 25 mph zone.
