MUNCIE, Ind. — The Muncie Symphony Orchestra invites the community to its spooky “Symphonic Halloween” concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, in Emens Auditorium.
“Our first venture into a ‘Symphonic Halloween’ concert will feature pieces typically associated with this unique holiday: Mussorgsky’s ‘Night on Bald Mountain’ and Berlioz’ ‘Symphonie Fantastique,'” MSO Artistic Director and Conductor Douglas Droste said.
Saturday’s concert begins with Mussorgsky’s eerie “Night on Bald Mountain” followed by performances from 2018 MSO Young Artist Competition Winners. Sage Hamm, the Steve Dingledine Senior Division Winner, will perform Camille Saint-Saens’ “Piano Concerto No. 2,” and Abigail Ko, the Ladonna Dingledine Junior Division Winner, will perform Max Bruch’s “Concerto No. 1” in G minor, Op. 26. After intermission, “Symphonie Fantastique” by Hector Berlioz will be performed.
