Unlike most other companies, OnePlus doesn’t shy away from teasing a few features of its upcoming phones beforehand. However, this never stops leaksters from digging up everything that the company wants to keep a secret. The same pattern has been observed over the past few weeks. While the company has itself disclosed some of the features of the upcoming OnePlus 6T – even pushing out television ads featuring Amitabh Bachchan holding the device – the rumour mill has continued to work overtime to give us a steady stream of reliable info about the phone. So if you are wondering what the OnePlus 6T could bring to the table, we’ve done the hard work for you to bring all rumours and leaks at one place.
Lately, we’ve been seeing in-display fingerprint scanners on a number of phones, especially the ones made by Vivo. And it’s time for OnePlus to embrace this trend. The slogan for this phone that has been spotted on leaked retail boxes, reads “ Unlock The Speed, ” which is a reference to its in-display fingerprint scanner. The company itself has officially confirmed that this feature will be making its way into the forthcoming handset.
The OnePlus 6T will be following in the footsteps of several other manufacturers by ditching the beloved 3.5mm headphone socket. This sounds pretty hypocritical as OnePlus has never shied away from making jokes on other phones which decided to take the no-jack route over the past few years. The company’s co-founder has said that they took this decision seeing as 59 percent of their entire community owns wireless headphones. A USB-C to 3.5mm adapter will be provided in the box to compensate for the lack of the headphone interface.
The OnePlus 6 ( review) features a notched display, which is another industry trend its makers decided to adhere to. Multiple leaked renders of the 6T are suggesting that a waterdrop notch will be adopted by the new handset. This will considerably limit the amount of screen space that is consumed by the cut-out, making your viewing experience a lot better. The rumoured 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display on the device will, of course, have minimal bezels on all its sides.
By equipping the Galaxy Note 9 with a massive 4,000mAh battery, Samsung heralded a shift in the flagship segment towards bigger batteries. While the current-gen OnePlus 6 already has a respectable 3,300mAh cell inside it, a leaked retail box of the 6T has pointed out that an upgraded 3,700mAh cell will be making its way into its successor. Of course, you could expect the handset to support the Dash Charge technology, which is one of the fastest charging standards in the world.
Early chatter had hinted that the OnePlus 6T will ship with three cameras on its rear surface, however, no mention was made about what purpose the third camera will be serving. Whatever it may have been, it seems the upstart has now dropped that plan and has stuck to dual cameras on the 6T. Recent leaks are telling us that there will be no change in the camera system this time around. That means a combination of 16MP and 20MP snappers will most likely be making its way into the 6T.
With the Snapdragon 845 processor and up to 8GB RAM, the OnePlus 6 is already an incredibly powerful device. It hence makes sense that the 6T won’t be changing things up, under the hood. That means you’ll have the option of 128GB or 256GB of storage with the 8GB RAM model, whereas the 6GB RAM version will ship with 64GB of storage.
A leaked invite of the launch event of the OnePlus 6T was making the rounds on social media a while ago. According to that, the phone is supposed to be unveiled on October 17th at an event in India. There are talks of an increase in its price as well, as the phone is being tipped to bear a $550 tag instead of its predecessor’s $529 starting price. In India, this will be mean that the starting price will jump up to somewhere around Rs 37,000.
