Doom ran at 79 FPS at 5K Ultra settings with the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC reaching 81C at max. Here is what you need to know regarding the matter.
The EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC is one of the models that fans seem to be very interested in and a few people believed that the graphics card can achieve a memory overclock of 1000 MHz. That was put to the test and it seems that while it is possible, the graphics card is not stable at such a clock speed. The EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC was able to run Doom at 5K and delivered more than 60 FPS which is very impressive indeed.
To test Doom an ultra-wide monitor was used. Talking about the settings, the game was tested with the Ultra settings. The Vsync was turned off, 8xTSAA, Motion Blur set to High and 105 FOV. You can check out the details in the images below and can also see how great the game looks at such a high resolution:
The hardware setup for these tests is as follows:
The core OC on the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC was 160 MHz, which is not much but this helped the boost clock to get to 1860 MHz. The power limit was set to 130% and Doom ran at 75 FPS. The max temperature noted for the graphics card was 81C. The game ran fine and did not crash. Other than that there was no artifacting.
The tested noting that with a 175 MHz core overclock, the graphics card reached a boost clock of 1890 MHz and that resulted in an additional 1 FPS but artifacts were noticed and the game crashed so it was not stable.
With the same 160 Mhz core overclock on the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC and memory OC of 800 MHz, Doom ran at 79 FPS with the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC reaching 81C at max. This was the best score that was achieved without crashing the game and without artifacts.
Running a +1000 MHz (8000) overclock is not stable and crashes the system. The EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC reaches 81C with these settings. +800 MHz (7800MHz) is stable. If you are looking for silent operation then you can turn down the power limiter to 80% and the graphics card will be silent with minimal performance hit.
It is also worth noting that when overclocking the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC, performance gains above 120% power limit are not worth it.
Let us know what you think about the EVGA RTX 2080 Ti XC and whether or not you are interested in getting an Nvidia RTX graphics card.
