According to a thread on Reddit, users of the Google Pixel 3 are experiencing display flickering issue. According to them, a portion of the display brightens up suddenly, while the rest of it remains dark. Users suggest that the flickering issue could be because of the ambient display feature. However, it isn’t confirmed that ambient display is the only cause of it. There have been similar reports of Google Pixel 3’s display on Google Product forums as well. According to some users, and the information that has surfaced online, Google has replaced the displays for a few users. However, the brand has not broken its silence on the topic yet.
In the past, the Google Pixel 3 was a victim of a few other issues as well such as overheating and bad audio quality. If we go back in time even further, last year’s flagship from Google, the Pixel 2 XL also had issues with its screen. Although, the issue wasn’t the display flickering. The Pixel 2 XL’s display suffered from blotchiness and black crushing. Google used displays from LG for the Google Pixel 2 XL, and the same goes with the Google Pixel 3’s display.
When users started reporting about the Google Pixel 2 XL’s display issue, it wasn’t a surprise because LG isn’t the best brand when it comes to OLED displays. When it was revealed that Google Pixel 3 also uses an LG panel, everyone had their doubts about it having similar issues. Well, predictions now seem to be true. However, it could also be a software issue; we can’t blame LG panels just yet. In fact, a software update fixed a few problems of the Google Pixel 2 XL’s display. We hope those issues with Pixel 3’s display also get addressed with a software update.

With a price tag of INR 92,000, the Google Pixel 3 XL is currently the costliest Android smartphone in India. However, it is still cheaper than the iPhone XS series smartphones. The screens of both the smartphones have HDR, 100% DCI-P3 coverage, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. While the Google Pixel 3 XL has a notch in its display, the Google Pixel 3 doesn’t.
