The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds console exclusivity is coming to an end, with PUBG Corporation announcing the battle royale’s impending December release on PS4.
It’s the announcement that everyone knew was coming, as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is coming to PlayStation 4. Sony announced that PUBG Corp.’s hugely popular game would be coming to its platform Tuesday morning, with the lengthy year-long console exclusivity deal with Xbox now at an end. PUBG will officially launch on PlayStation 4 come December 7.
PUBG Corp. can now confirm that the battle royale game will launch on PlayStation 4 with all three of the game’s well-known maps included — Erangel, Miramar, and the smaller map Sanhok. PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ fourth map, set in a snowy location, is also confirmed to launch on the platform this winter, perhaps implying an early 2019 launch. It’s not clear, but it’s possible that the snow map Dihor Otok will launch on PC before it arrives on console.
In addition to confirming the addition of all of PUBG‘s maps, it’s also confirmed that the PS4 version of the game will feature all major in-game features from the PC version. That includes custom matches, the ranked system, event mode, and plenty more, including Trophies. Not that anyone was worried, but all of PUBG‘s microtransactions, battle passes, and so on will also come to PS4.
For PlayStation 4 owners that have been anxiously awaiting PUBG‘s inevitable release on their platform of choice, pre-orders have officially been opened. According to Sony, potential PUBG buyers can pre-order three different bundles for the game. The standard edition of PUBG will cost a healthy $29.99 and will be available both digitally and on-disc via retail. Two more editions will be available for those wanting something to celebrate the occasion.
In addition to the standard edition of PUBG, those who pre-order could opt instead to buy either the Survivor’s Digital Edition or the Champion’s Digital Edition. The Survivor’s Digital Edition will cost $59.99 and will include the Vikendi Battle Pass, 2,300 G-Coin, and 20,000 BP so players can start opening crates day one. The $89.99 Champion’s Digital Edition also features the Vikendi battle pass as well as 6,000 G-Coin and 20,000 BP. Altogether, the two bundles offer a light discount on the premium G-Coin currency, basically providing the Vikendi Battle Pass for free alongside standard G-Coin prices.
One last bonus will be available for all PUBG pre-orderers. All digital edition pre-orders will include a special Uncharted Nathan Drake Desert Outfit exclusive, as well as an Ellie’s Backpack skin from The Last of Us. Finally, there’s also a special PUBG avatar featuring the tier-3 helmeted PUBG mascot and a Miramar PS4 theme.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on PC and Xbox One, with a PS4 release coming December 7.
