The president took aim at Mueller after the special counsel’s team accused Paul Manafort of lying to the FBI.
President Donald Trump has attacked Robert Mueller in his latest Twitter outburst, accusing the special counsel of having “gone rogue” during the Russia investigation.
Mueller, a former FBI director, is probing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. One line of inquiry is potential collusion between the Trump 2016 campaign and the Russian government.
The president claims the Russia investigation, which has notched up a number of indictments and guilty pleas, including of some of those closest to him, is politically motivated.
“The Phony Witch Hunt continues, but Mueller and his gang of Angry Dems are only looking at one side, not the other,” Trump tweeted Tuesday morning.
“Wait until it comes out how horribly & viciously they are treating people, ruining lives for them refusing to lie. Mueller is a conflicted prosecutor gone rogue.
