The San Francisco Symphony’s next music director, its 12th in 107 years, will be Esa-Pekka Salonen.
The acclaimed Finnish conductor and composer, former music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and conductor of Philharmonia Orchestra in London, is slated to take over for Michael Tilson Thomas in September 2020, the orchestra’s president Sakurako Fisher and chief executive officer Mark C. Hanson announced this morning.
