A “Desperate” housewife and a “Full House” aunt are among 33 affluent parents authorities have criminally charged with collectively shelling out $25 million to buy their children’s admissions into some of the country’s most coveted colleges.
“Operation Varsity Blues,” what U. S. Attorney of Massachusetts Andrew Lelling declared Monday is “the largest college admissions scam ever prosecuted by the Department of Justice,” has resulted in the indictments of 50 people nationwide.
Among them, former “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman, 56, and beloved “Full House” star Lori Loughlin, 54, both of whom Lelling confirmed were to be arrested in Los Angeles.
“These parents are a catalog of wealth and privilege,” Lelling said. “They include CEOs of private and public companies, successful securities and real estate investors, two well-known actresses, a famous fashion designer and the chairman of a global law firm.
