May Bans Huawei Equipment From UK's Core 5G Network

The Chinese company will still be able to provide infrastructure in
UK Prime Minister Theresa May has ordered that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei will not be allowed to supply core 5G equipment to British telecom services, following a meeting with ministers on the National Security Council (NSC).
This does not mean that Huawei will be completely locked out of the country; rather, Huawei’s chips will be used in “non-core” infrastructure, such as antennas. However, according to The Guardian, several ministers apparently raised concerns even over that concession and instead called for a total ban.
It is unclear whether that ban would be specifically to Huawei’s telecom equipment, or whether the UK would follow in the footsteps of the United States and forbid Huawei’s smartphones, such as the Mate 20 Pro and the P30 Pro, from entering the country too.

The Telegraph reportedly states that Jeremy Fleming, the head of GCHQ, gave a speech in Glasgow today to members of Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the US’s intelligence agencies warning against threats from foreign agencies.
