COLUMBUS – Former Vice President Joe Biden will visit Columbus on Saturday, his presidential campaign announced.
The Human Rights Campaign, an LGBT advocacy organization, announced Biden will headline its Columbus dinner at the Ohio Union on the Ohio State University campus.
The organization noted Biden was the first sitting vice president to express his personal support for marriage equality and his role in “the most pro-LGBTQ administration in our nation’s history.”
“His bold declaration supporting marriage equality helped change hearts and minds throughout America, and his work during the past two years as a leader of the Biden Foundation to advance LGBTQ rights at home and abroad is critical — particularly at a moment when the equality and dignity of this community are under attack across the globe,” Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin said in a news release.
