The OnePlus 6T may still be fresh, but we’re already looking ahead at the upcoming OnePlus 7. The device will likely feature Qualcomm’s latest and greatest smartphone chip, and could have a cool pop-up camera module on the front, so it avoids a screen notch. Here’s everything we know about the OnePlus 7.
The OnePlus 6T isn’t exactly old, but it’s definitely time to look ahead to the upcoming OnePlus 7. Or rather, three new OnePlus phones in the 7 range, if you include the upcoming OnePlus 5G phone and believe the prevalent rumors that we’ll be seeing a “Pro” version of the OnePlus 7 for the first time.
But whether or not those rumors prove true, new OnePlus phones always carry high expectations. With flagship-level specifications and good looks — paired with a price tag that’s decidedly not flagship — OnePlus phones have become something of a love affair for many. While OnePlus phones have been getting more expensive, the fact is that they’re still far cheaper than other flagship phones out there, making the upcoming OnePlus 7 range even more exciting. Here’s everything we know about the OnePlus 7.
Turns out, the leaks were correct. OnePlus will unveil the OnePlus 7 Pro on May 14. And, if you live in the U. S., OnePlus will once again be partnering with T-Mobile for launch, according to T-Mobile. That’s good news for T-Mobile fans, but others will need to buy the device unlocked to use on their carrier of choice.
Not only that, but OnePlus will be holding launch events for the phone around the world, with the largest event set to be in New York. If you’re interested in heading to one of the events for yourself, you’ll be able to get a ticket at a discounted price of $20 starting on April 25, but only for 48 hours. After the 48 hours are up, prices will rise, though we don’t yet know exactly how much.
There are four OnePlus 7 Pro launch events in total. The first is at Pier 94 in New York, and it starts at 11 a.m. ET on May 14. The next is at Printworks in London, and it starts at 4 p.m. BT on May 14. Next up is an event at BIEC in Bangalore, India, which starts at 8:15 p.m. IT on May 14. Last but not least is an event at Yanqi Lake, in Beijing, China. It begins at 2 p.m. PT on May 16. Thankfully, if you can’t attend an event you’ll still be able to watch the unveiling thanks to livestreams on OnePlus’ YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook accounts.
Interestingly, OnePlus only noted the OnePlus 7 Pro in its announcement of the events. We’re not sure if that means that there will only be one OnePlus 7 phone, the OnePlus 7 Pro, or the OnePlus 7 Pro is simply the flagship in a series of OnePlus 7 devices.
As far as pricing goes, the OnePlus 6T came in at around $550, so it’s likely the OnePlus 7 range will start at around that price as well, though a price bump is likely. Giztop lists the OnePlus 7 at $569.
Past OnePlus phones have sported strong cameras, even if they’ve never usually been up to the standard of the top flagships. It seems OnePlus is looking to up its game though, with the addition of triple-lens cameras to both the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7 Pro.
