With large groups of people at risk of catching and spreading COVID-19, the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) will not hold its annual event in Las Vegas. It will, however, stream online.
Everyone will watch the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) from afar this summer. It’s transitioning to an online-only format in 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak, the organization behind it announced on Twitter, but will still offer a full lineup of tournaments that feature popular fighting games.
EVO 2020 is scheduled to feature Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tekken 7, Soul Calibur VI, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, and other titles.
Annually, thousands of professional gamers and fans gather at the Mandalay Bay for EVO. It won’t occur in 2020, but the organization behind the event is likely planning to return to Las Vegas in 2021 or 2022.
