After a second night of escalating tensions during protests against police brutality,84 protesters were arrested in downtown Detroit Saturday night.
Detroit police arrested 84 people,21 of whom reside in Detroit, with three from other states (Ohio and Tennessee). The majority of those arrested — 61 — live in metro Detroit, police said.
Friday night’s protests led to 60 arrests, with only 23 people residing inside the city.
Detroit officials and community organizers celebrated the peaceful, planned protests, but had a strong message for those who came down to the city and escalated the situation.
