Two jurors were selected Tuesday for the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd amid deliberations on whether to reinstate a third-degree murder charge.
March 9 (UPI) — Jury selection for the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd began on Tuesday following a delay as prosecutors sought to reinstate a murder charge. The court heard from eight prospective jurors and selected two to hear arguments as Chauvin,45, currently faces charges of second-degree unintentional murder and second-degree manslaughter after he was seen on video kneeling on the 46-year-old Floyd’s neck for several minutes as he was handcuffed on the pavement last May.
