Shemekia Copeland Leads Blues Awards Winners' List With Three Honors

The 42nd annual Blues Music Awards were led by Shemekia Copeland, whose three trophies included entertainer of the year.
Shemekia Copeland led the list of winners at Sunday’s Blues Music Awards with three honors, including the Blues Foundation’s top prize, the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year award. Picking up two trophies each in the 42nd annual ceremony were Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Mike Zito and the pairing of Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite. Besides winning the marquee entertainer prize, Copeland also won for contemporary blues album, for her “Uncivil War” project, and as contemporary blues female artist, an honor she won for the second year in a row.
