China’s aging population will increase spending on treatments associated with the elderly
China’s aging demographics may constrain overall growth in the world’s most populous nation in the coming years. Yet it will increase demand for drugs used to treat illnesses associated with the elderly such as Alzheimer’s disease. Against that backdrop, investors in Hong Kong bid up shares in Simcere Pharmaceutical by more than 5% today to HK$13.98, their best close since the company listed there in 2020.
