Vatican authorities charged 10 people, including a high-ranking cardinal and an Italian broker, with financial crimes including embezzlement, extortion, money laundering and fraud on Saturday. The accusations are largely related to the purchase of a single building at 60 Sloane Avenue in central London, which the Vatican paid at least $400 million for, the Associated Press reported. Cardinal Angelo Becciu is accused of interfering with the purchase for his own benefit, according to Vatican News Agency. He is charged with embezzlement, abuse of office and subordination.
