A 25-year-old Michigan man was hit with a six-year prison sentence Wednesday for plotting to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer last year. Ty Garbin, who admitted he was part of a scheme to kidnap Whitmer after he and a half-dozen others were arrested in October, was the first of six alleged conspirators charged in the case to plead guilty. The crew of would-be kidnappers, who called themselves the “Wolverine Watchmen,” were busted before pulling off the plan to snatch Whitmer from her vacation home to protest her strict COVID-19 pandemic mandates.
