Ahmeel Fowler was charged with first-degree murder in the strangulation death of 21-year-old Ja’nya Murphy.
An Illinois man was arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the strangulation death of a young mother whose 1-year-old daughter was later found dead in northwest Indiana, authorities said Friday. Police in Wheeling, a suburb of Chicago, Ill. said that the suspect,26-year-old Ahmeel Fowler, had at one point had a “troubled relationship” with the victim,21-year-old Jan’ya Murphy. After Murphy failed to show up for work or contact family on Monday, officers conducted a well-being check at her Wheeling home.
