Big security change introduced for the productivity suite
Microsoft has just announced a change that could be received with mixed reactions by the Office userbase out there: the productivity suite will no longer enable macros downloaded from the Internet by default. On one hand, this is a welcome improvement from a security perspective, but on the other hand, running macros by default won’t be as convenient as before. Microsoft emphasizes the security implications of keeping this feature enabled in Microsoft Office, with the company explaining that users will be presented with a warning showing at the top of the screen whenever a macro is blocked.
