With plenty of power, a 144Hz display, and active stylus support, Motorola’s Moto Edge+ should make Samsung nervous.
The Motorola Moto Edge+, announced this morning, is the company’s first US flagship since it announced the Moto Razr 2 in 2020, and it comes just days before the start of Mobile World Congress and the release of the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The Moto Edge+, available in blue or white, sports a sleek and slim aesthetic that’s reminiscent of its predecessor. The front of the phone features a bezel-less 6.7-inch,2,400-by-1,080-pixel AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate. The back is made of laser-etched glass to add additional grip and reduce the appearance of fingerprints and scratches. A massive 60MP camera peeks through the display’s central hole punch. A side-mounted fingerprint sensor is integrated into the phone’s power button. Motorola’s decision to forego the typical in-display fingerprint sensors that are often found on flagships was based on in-depth consumer research, according to Doug Michau, the company’s executive director of North American business development. A side-mounted sensor provides the same ease of use as its on-display alternative, with better accuracy and more versatility, he said. Inside, the Edge+ features Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The least expensive model comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage on board. There’s no microSD slot for external storage, but you can upgrade to a 12GB/512GB version of the Edge+. A 4,800MAh battery powers the phone, which Motorola claims should offer enough power to get users through two days between charges.
