Cary-based ministry group sending six people to Poland to help Ukrainian refugees

A group of six volunteers with Baptist on Mission are planning to spend a week in Poland to help Ukrainian refugees.
A group of people from the Cary-based group Baptists on Mission are heading to the border with Ukraine to help refugees from the war-torn country. On Friday, a group of six people will leave Raleigh-Durham International Airport to travel near the border of Ukraine and Poland. It’s the first group the ministry nonprofit plans to send to help Ukrainian refugees. “We’re trying to take care of immediate needs, plan for future needs and spiritually help those people if we can,” said Dr. Dan Phillips, a Baptist on Mission disaster relief team member. Phillips is a retired doctor in Roxboro gearing up for the week-long mission trip. He is bringing a stethoscope, triage tags, Vaseline gauze, iodine, light sticks and other supplies.
