Prince William and Kate Middleton together with Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall have taken to social media on Tuesday to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II on International Women’s Day. It is unusual for the royals to celebrate the Queen in this way as International Women’s Day is typically used to shine a spotlight on underappreciated figures. However, these posts have been made in special recognition of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee milestone this year, marking 70 years since she came to the throne. The joint post on Instagram by the official dukeandduchessofcambridge and clarencehouse accounts reads: «In this very special #platinumjubilee year, we celebrate Her Majesty The Queen and her historic 70 years of service. #IWD2022. «Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and Head of State, The Queen’s extraordinary reign has been longer than any other monarch in British history—inspiring a nation and dedicating her life to the service of the Commonwealth and its people.
