Following a trail of the black substance connected to the void, Joy enters a forest. On the other side, she emerges in the past, where a stampede of wild bison stream before her. She notices tepees in the distance and realizes she isn’t in Kansas anymore. Also in episode 7, we settle in for the tale of what happened in Royal’s past. While showing off the void to his son Perry, Royal reveals the reason why he ran away as a kid. While on a hunting trip, the 9-year-old Royal accidentally shot his father in the chest.
