Cisco is preparing to introduce new Webex Meetings features to make it easier to move calls between devices and to make and take them using Apple’s CarPlay.
Confirming Apple’s growing reach in the enterprise, Cisco has announced a range of upcoming features that will benefit any Apple-using knowledge worker using Webex. Apple and Cisco began working more closely together in 2015, when the companies issued a joint statement promising they would begin “optimizing Cisco networks for iOS devices and apps, integrating iPhone with Cisco enterprise environments and providing unique collaboration on iPhone and iPad.”
The companies have continued this relationship since then, particularly around Webex. Cisco this week announced Move to Mobile, a new Webex Meetings feature coming in August that will make it easier to move calls between Apple devices and let you make and take them with Apple CarPlay. Essentially, you’ll be able to begin a meeting on an iPhone or Mac, transition the call easily to CarPlay, and then carry the call out of the car on the phone and back into the office. It’s just the latest in a recent spate of CarPlay enhancements.
