Twitter to give grey ‘Official’ label to some verified accounts to separate them from paid blue ticks

While the Twitter blue tick will be open to all paying customers now, some celebrities and official accounts will get a new grey-coloured “official” tag. Here’s more on the new Twitter features.
Selected Twitter handles of governments, companies, publishers and some public figures will get a second ‘Official’ checkmark on top of the regular blue tick.
Following new Twitter owner Elon Musk’s move to give the blue verification tick to anyone who pays for Twitter Blue, doubts have been raised about how to distinguish between a legitimate account of a public figure and any random account who just paid the $7.99 subscription fee. Twitter appears to finally have addressed the issue, as the platform has now revealed that in addition to the paid blue check, select accounts will also get a new ‘Official’ grey-coloured checkmark on their profiles, thereby separating them as notable.
